Focus On: Electrically Semi-Conductive High Performance Silicone CRTV5120

CRTV5120 is an innovative one component silicone rubber manufactured by Momentive which has been engineered for electrical semi-conductive applications. CRTV5120 is an easy to use, one component fast-cure soft spreadable paste, which cures at ambient temperature (tack-free time 20 minutes, full cure overnight) or more quickly at elevated temperatures. It can be easily applied to provide primer-less adhesion to many metals, ceramics, plastics, glass & other substrates generally without the need for a primer. The cured materials exhibit environmental resistance and superior physical strengths as well as semi electrical conductivity.

The techy stuff says it offers a resistivity between 200 to 800 ohm-cm, hardness is 35 Shore A, elongation is 250% and tensile strength is 2.0 MPa. This high performance semi conductive silicone adhesive was designed to resistant high temperatures and still offer flexibility at low temperatures (-60°C to 205°C). Due to its paste consistency, CRTV5120 will only flow with external pressure making it suitable for use on horizontal, vertical and overhead surfaces at a thickness of up to 10mm as it is a moisture vapour cure system. Storage stability in original closed containers at ambient temperatures is 6 months.

Momentive CRTV5120 is ideal for industrial applications where electrical semi-conductivity characteristics and final design of the finished product is of paramount importance. Typical applications include gaskets and seals for electronic parts, which need EMI/RFI Shielding & related applications, for environmental protection and long term flexible sealant integrity.
